Greene County OEM

GREENE COUNTY, MO — Following widespread strong storms on June 29, 2025, several outdoor warning sirens across Greene County are currently damaged or without power due to storm-related winds. Crews are actively assessing and repairing the affected sirens; however, some may remain offline for the time being until all sirens are operated on. With the potential for more severe weather today, siren repair personnel will not be deployed if lightning or high winds are reported in the area. While the goal is to get all sirens back to their full operability as soon as possible, it will not come at the cost of safety to our crews.

The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) urges residents to not rely solely on outdoor warning sirens as their primary source for severe weather alerts. Consider the following options to stay up to date on the latest updates:

• NOAA Weather Radio: Provides continuous broadcasts of weather information and alerts, even if the power goes out.

• Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA): Enabled on most cell phones to receive pertinent National Weather Service warnings.

• Local Media: Monitor weather coverage from trusted TV and radio stations.

• Weather Apps: Use reputable weather apps that provide push notifications for severe weather alerts.
