SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Greene County Commission has designated Nov. 4 through Nov. 11, 2025 as ‘Operation Green Light’ week to support military veterans and raise awareness about the unique challenges they face.
Several county buildings will partially be illuminated green to honor the contributions of our nation’s veterans.
Citizens and businesses are encouraged to participate by changing one light bulb green. This can be an exterior light that neighbors can see or an interior light to spark conversation with friends. By shining a green light, we are letting our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported.
Participants are encouraged to share their green lights on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight or tag Greene County on Facebook.
“Veterans and their families have to make great sacrifices for our nation’s safety. We want to make sure our veterans in Greene County know their service matters and give our utmost respect and gratitude,” said Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon.
Now in its fifth year, Operation Green Light is in collaboration with the National Association of Counties (NaCo).
Approximately 200,000 service members transition to civilian communities annually. $52 billion in federal health, disability, and compensation benefits are available each year to veterans.
